Daikin Industries, Ltd. (DIL) has been chosen as a member of the prestigious Global 100 list of Most Sustainable Corporations for the 3rd consecutive year. The 5th annual Global 100 was announced at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland when it was held from January 28th to February 1st. The Global 100 Most Sustainable Corporations in the World is a project initiated in 2005 by Corporate Knights Inc. in Canada with Innovest Strategic Value Advisors Inc. in the United States.The project selects the top 100 most sustainable corporations in the world based on their performance on social, environmental and strategic governance issues. In 2009, the final 100 companies from 15 countries were selected from a pool of some 1,800 companies. DIL was grouped into the industrial sector and a total of 17 companies such as Air France-KLM, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Ltd., were selected from this sector. The United States led the list with 20 Global 100 companies. The United Kingdom followed with 19, while Japan increased from 13 in 2008 to 15 as the 3rd most country.
